Kristen Easterday, Vice President, Harrison West Society

As a first-time homeowner, I knew I had a lot to learn. So one of the first steps I took in order to fill my information gap was to become more engaged in my neighborhood. By joining the Harrison West Society, attending the monthly meetings and becoming part of the leadership team, I have become much more aware about how surrounding development projects, parks and other issues affect the community and my home. By becoming an engaged member of the Society, I am able to vote on issues, influence on decisions within the neighborhood and help set the agenda as we work to strengthen Harrison West.

I would encourage anyone with an interest in getting involved to check out the monthly meetings. The society is volunteer-driven, so the more neighbors that are involved, the more we can accomplish. Wherever your passions lie, you have the chance to make an impact.

Something that I am passionate about is ensuring that we have an inclusive and fair Society. One initiative that I am working on to further this ideal is to launch the business outreach initiative, which will engage local businesses. My hope is that, in conjunction with a membership outreach plan, the Society will increase neighborhood cohesiveness and engagement.
