May is Street Sweeping Month in Harrison West

This is a friendly reminder to all Harrison West residents that May is street sweeping month. Street sweeping will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 12th and 13th respectively, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Be sure to check your street signs for sweeping days on the appropriate side of the street. Please spread the word and let your neighbors know as well.

Also during this time, the city will be striping solid parallel parking lines on 3rd Avenue as part of a traffic calming measure. Similar solid painted parking lines can currently be seen on Neil Avenue in Victorian Village.

Vehicles that are not moved to allow street sweepers to work in the area will be impounded and towed at the owner’s expense. The purpose of sweeping streets is to remove dirt, litter and debris from curbs to prevent the materials from being washed by rain into storm sewers. Litter and debris washed into storm sewers subsequently is carried to our waterways.
