What is your full name and its origin, or how was it given to you? Are you named after anyone? Do you have any nicknames?

Travis Andrew Hoewischer. Rumor has it that my first name was inspired by the fictional detective Travis McGee. My middle name was given to me in honor of one of my dad’s best friends who was killed in a skydiving accident. I suppose you could Trav, or T, are nicknames, but maybe my friends are just lazy.

Where do you live in Harrison West? Do you own your house or rent?

Oregon Avenue. Rent.

If you own your house have you done any significant renovations to it? Please describe.

How long have you lived in Harrison West?

Less than a year.

What brought you here (HW) and where did you live before?

For a long time I commuted from Columbus to other areas of Central Ohio, so it made more sense to live in the suburbs. But, I’ve always loved the area, and thrilled to finally be here.

Where were you born and where did you grow up?

Sidney, Ohio; the only other place I’ve lived besides Columbus.

How did you end up in Columbus if you are not from here?

Like a lot of people, I came to Ohio State and never left. Many of my relatives graduated from OSU, including my grandma, who grew up on Weber Road, so this has always been like a second home for my family.

Did you go to college? If so, where and what did you study?

Ohio State University. Major in Communications and a minor in Film Studies.

What do you do for a living? How did you end up in that occupation?

I am the Editor-in-Chief for (614) Magazine. I started as a freelance sports writer and worked my way through a multitude of dailies and weeklies to arrive back in Columbus. Couldn’t ask for a better job, especially considering I learn more about my city every day as a result.

What do you like to do for fun?

I’ve been performing as a standup comic in Columbus for 12 years, so there’s that. Which obviously means I like to drink. Haha. I am a huge fan of local music and try to see as many shows a month as I can. I play guitar as well.

Do you have any pets? If so what are they and what are their names?

I don’t have a dog, but my girlfriend does, so…yes, I have a dog. His Name is Jonas. (Hum Weezer tune).

What do you like about living in Harrison West?

It’s very quiet and charming and peaceful, but just close enough to the pulse-y parts of Columbus. It’s the perfect mix.

What are your favorite places to go out?  Do you frequent any of the neighborhood businesses?

Katalina’s is hands-down one of the best joints in the city, and my old friends run Zeno’s Bar, so I frequent both several times a month.
