e-Community to Connect Residents with City Council
In a continuing effort to better engage and inform the residents of Columbus, City Council President Pro Tem A. Troy Miller is pleased to announce the latest addition to his e-Council initiative, e-Community. e-Community allows residents to sign up for neighborhood specific updates to receive information on Council initiatives.
“e-Community will help residents and business owners connect with their City government like never before,” said Councilmember Miller, chair of the Technology Committee. “They will be able to tailor the type of information they receive and subscribe to notifications about legislation in their area.”
Since joining City Council in 2009, President Pro Tem Miller has helped create a series of programs and websites designed to make local government more transparent and efficient. City Council offices now use tablets, which has greatly reduced printing costs. The Legislative Center, located on the City Council’s homepage, gives residents the chance to view agendas, legislation and related documents. President Pro Tem Miller also introduced the legislation that established the MyColumbus mobile application, which enables residents and visitors to access Columbus information and submit service requests through their mobile devices.
“Communication between City Hall and our neighborhoods is a mayor key to building the best community possible,” said Dave Paul, past president of the Northland Community Council. “I look forward to the implementation of this new system and sharing it with my friends and neighbors.”
The platform used for the e-Community program, GovDelivery, is currently being used by over 550 federal, state and local governmental entities, including Columbus City Schools and the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO).
