Harrison West Monthly Park Cleanup This Saturday, July 28th
The Parks and Green Space Committee will be hosting our monthly cleanup this Saturday, July 28 beginning at 8 a.m. We will meet at the Harrison West Condos Community Center for doughnuts and then go to Side by Side Park to weed and clear honeysuckle. Karl Hoessle from the city will be again helping us with the honeysuckle abatement. Lots of hands are needed, so please plan to help out for an hour or two on Saturday.
Harrison West is home to four parks and 13+ flower beds with more scheduled through the year. That means that by the end of this year, we will have 20 areas in need of maintenance that the city is unable to provide on a regular basis. Some of the areas are large enough that they’ll need two people pulling weeds, trimming and deadheading plants and picking up litter.
Some valiant Harrison West citizens, Bob Mangia and Matthew Williams, worked diligently this week to weed all the beds in Harrison Park. The cleanup this weekend will focus on the Side by Side park in between 3rd avenue and Bradley Street, along the river.
If you would like to be a part of the larger “Adopt a Bed” program in Harrison West, please read this post and contact Bob Mangia, to get involved. We hope to see you this weekend to help keep Harrison West beautiful!
