Local Harrison West Resident Launches Trio of Take-Home Dips
Harrison West resident, Dara Schwartz, will unveil three all natural take-home dips at The Hills Market Downtown on May 14, 2014.
The Hills Market Downtown will host a launch party for Darista Dips featuring free dip samples, appetizers and a paired wine tasting on May 14 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Appetizer samples include: Harissa Spiced Lamb Meatballs + Moroccan Carrot Dip; Seared Atlantic Salmon + Garlicky Kale Yogurt Dip; Roasted Beet Hummus; and Apple and Goat Cheese Pita Bites. Celebrity guest chef Jacob Hough (Executive Chef, Barcelona Restaurant & Bar) will be on-site serving an inspired small plate to be paired with a Darista Dip. Both Hills Market locations will offer free Shagbark Seed & Mill tortilla corn chip snack packs with the purchase of two or more 8-ounce Darista Dips starting on May 15, until supplies last.
Darista Dips are packed with flavor and made from scratch with fresh, local ingredients. They donʼt contain additives or preservatives. Many ingredients are organic.
All Hail the Kale—Garlicky Kale Yogurt Dip
Hearty kale, crunchy carrots and creamy, dreamy Snowville Creamery yogurt
Hip-Hoppinʼ Morockinʼ Carrot—Moroccan Carrot Dip
A spice blast of roasty, toasty carrots, hot harissa and raw honey
Step It Up a Beet—Roasted Beet Hummus
Smooth chickpeas and roasted beets tinged with bright notes of lemon
The dips cost $4.29 for an 8-ounce “Lilʼ dipper” and $6.99 for a 16-ounce “Big dipper.” To start, Darista Dips will be available for sale at the Clintonville Community Co-op, The Greener Grocer (North Market), The Hills Market and The Hills Market Downtown. Schwartz hopes to stock her dips on the shelves of more Columbus natural food stores by late 2014.
“For me, food is a journey,” said Schwartz. “Itʼs about telling stories through flavors and reflecting upon the people and cultures that have impacted our lives. These dips are packed with inspiration from my world travels.”
Schwartz has a planned partnership with Arc Industries and Sunapple Kitchens for production and packaging, enabling her to offer employment for adults with developmental disabilities. Ohio farms from which she sources ingredients include Honeyrun Farm, Rainfresh Harvest, Snowville Creamery, Somerset Herbs and Wayward Seed Farm.
“Dara is such a talented chef,” said Mark Swanson, President of Staufʼs Coffee Roasters, Cup oʼJoe and MoJoe Lounge. “Quality, creativity and consistency are evident in all of her dishes. I hope to offer Darista Dips at several locations as soon as possible.”
Schwartz aims to release two additional dips this year, as well as an additional product line that reflects top sellers at Darista Café.
