Hands Needed! Last Bank Heist of the Season!
by Matthew Williams
If you appreciate the view of the Olentangy River from Harrison Park, can you spare a few hours to help keep it open?
The Harrison West Society will be hosting its final “Bank Heist” of the season on Saturday, November 5 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. “Two Men and a Chainsaw,” a program of the Recreation and Parks Department, will join us, and we need as many hands as we can get to make their time with us efficient (and to lure them back in the spring!).
“Two Men and a Chainsaw” will provide the cutting power along with a chipper and herbicide. While they cut down honeysuckle on the north and south ends of the park, our volunteers will haul the cut material up the bank and feed the chipper.
If you have clippers, lopers, ropes, gloves or wheelbarrows, bring them along. They’ll be a great help.
When the cutting is finished, “Two Men” will begin spraying the aggressive honeysuckle, grapevine, and poison ivy with an herbicide that should prevent its re-emergence next spring.
Please plan to stop by between 8 and 5 and lend us your hands for a couple hours. Help us maintain that glorious view!
We will resume Bank Heists in April.
