The inaugural Harrison West “Neighbor of the Year” award was presented yesterday at the Harrison West Holiday party. The award went to: Eric and Mary Martineau. The couple was nominated by local resident, Becky Reno, who gave a short speech indicating why she chose the Martineau’s as the Neighbors of the Year.

Becky acknowledged that she grew up in a community where everyone would look out for each other and knew each other pretty well, and was looking for the same type of thing when her and her husband moved to Columbus. Upon moving to the neighborhood, she exclaimed that both Mary and Eric have been instrumental in helping her recreate that sense of community from her hometown and have installed that sense of neighborly care with her and her husband and two children. In addition to being a “friendly neighbor”, Becky mentioned the Martineau’s involvement with the community both here in Harrison West and throughout the city of Columbus, helping to make the city a better place.

The Martineau’s received a Neighbor of the Year plaque attached to a rock from our very own Olentangy River. Congrats to Eric and Mary Martineau!
