Household Trash Collection: Thursday/Friday Pickup

The city of Columbus Department of Public Service uses 300-gallon waste containers in Harrison West that are emptied once a week. City code requires that trash be bagged and tied before being placed in the container. If your waste container is damaged, report it to the city by calling the 3-1-1 hotline [or dial (614) 645-3111]. If you witness littering or illegal dumping in the neighborhood, call the Nail-A-Dumper hotline at (614) 871-5322 to report it.

Curbside Recycling: Thursday Pickup

The city of Columbus offers convenient curbside recycling through Rumpke Recycling for $8.25 per month. To order service, call the 3-1-1 hotline [or dial (614) 645-3111] or visit public service.columbus.gov/recycle.

Recycling drop boxes are also available throughout Columbus. To find a recycling drop-off location, visit public service.columbus.gov/recycle.

Yard Waste: Thursday Pickup

Harrison West residents should use the yard waste collection service provided by the city instead of placing yard waste in the trash containers. Yard waste includes grass clippings, leaves, twigs and branches. Yard waste should be placed in biodegradable paper bags (available at most grocery or hardware stores) or in rigid containers marked “yard waste.” Branches should be shorter than four feet and tied into bundles. Bags and bundles should weigh no more than 50 pounds. See publicservice.columbus.gov/yardwaste for more information.

Bulk Pickup: By Appointment Only

Large items such as furniture, mattresses, carpet and appliances cannot be placed in regular trash. Disposal of oversized items must be scheduled through the city’s bulk pickup service. To schedule bulk pickup and obtain additional information (such as guidelines and exceptions), call the city’s 3-1-1 [or dial (614) 645-3111] or visit publicservice.columbus.gov/bulkitems/ for additional information.

Electronics Recycling: Drop-off Only

Computers and televisions must not be placed in the trash contains and should be brought to a designated electronics recycling center. To find a drop-off location, visit http://www.swaco.org/RecycleElectronics.aspx.
