Coats & Cocktails

Cocktails for a good cause! Join your neighbors for a pre-holiday cocktail and bring a gently used or inexpensive new coat (and hats, gloves, boots, etc.). If you’re unable to join at this special event but would still like to contribute coats and other winter items can be left on the front porch of the event location. Women’s coats will be passed out on Thanksgiving to ladies on the west side to support Freedom a la Cart, and men’s coats will go to Faith Mission to serve the homeless population. No RSVP is needed for this fundraiser.

In Franklin County alone, there are approximately 1,200 women arrested each year for solicitation.  Over 92% of them are identified as victims of human sex trafficking and are first trafficked at the average age of 13.  Women who are able to escape experience severe trauma, sexual abuse, drug and alcohol abuse, arrested development, homelessness and poverty. Freedom a la Cart  provides workforce training and supportive services to survivors of human trafficking and runs a catering business where they employ and train survivors.
